Ór Real Irish Butter - Tips and Tricks.
At North Cork Creamery we have been crafting and perfecting butter since 1928. Our experienced Master Butter Makers know a thing or two about the best tips and tricks of working with and using butter. We want you to have the best possible experience when cooking, baking with and of course eating Ór Real Irish Butter.
We have put together our top “Butter Hacks” to make sure you are getting the best butter solutions and experience in your food & dishes.
Take your daily butter out of the fridge.
To ensure you have the best Ór Real Irish Butter spreading experience we recommend that you do what your Granny probably did and take your daily butter usage out of the fridge the night before. Sounds simple - but the result is too and allows you to “spread and go” when you are on the move!
We have made it super easy with our handy measurement guide on Ór Real Irish Butters pack - so you can measure out your daily usage. It gives you the perfect excuse to have a nice traditional butter dish as a feature in your kitchen - adding to your sense of occasion every time you use Ór Real Irish Butter. Use a butter curler.
A butter curler is a kitchen tool designed to produce decorative butter shapes for use on food decoration or to use as a method of making your butter more spreadable. Start with a stick of Ór Real Irish Butter that has been at room temperature a few minutes but is still cool and firm. Heat the butter curler in very hot water, and then pull it firmly over the stick of butter to form the curls. Reheat the butter curler as needed. Not only will it make your morning toast amazing - it can also help as a handy portion control measure.
Baking with butter.
The job of Ór Real Irish Butter in baking (besides being delicious and reassuringly tasty) is to give richness, tenderness and structure to cookies, cakes, pies and pastries. We also recommend reading your recipes and it’s butter usage well in advance - so you can prepare your butter in good time. While some methods of baking with butter, for example making pastry call for butter cold from the fridge for best results, others for crumbles or soda bread require or “rubbing in” which works best with butter at room temperature or working with chocolate can sometimes call for melted butter. We recommend that you check your recipe and note your butter requirements the same as you would to preheat your oven. Check out some of our “Best Baking” ideas here.
Don’t discriminate against your butter!
Butter is a rich dairy quality product which can be used as a condiment or in booking & baking. While many people are extremely aware of the taste of butter as a condiment - as a spread on freshly baked bread or melted over a dish of tasty new potatoes - not everyone is as fussy when using butter in cooking or baking. We say for the very best results and sense of occasion in your food use the best quality traditionally crafted Ór Real Irish Butter not just as a condiment but in your cooking and baking to get a richer flavour and a more tender crumb. The handy measurement guide on Ór’s pack makes following cooking and baking instructions simple. Check out some of our “What’s for Dinner?” ideas here.
