Joe Barry.

A farmer for more than 20 years himself, Joe Barry comes from a deeply traditional farming background. In fact Joe is a fourth generation farmer and his family has been a valued supplier of milk from certified grass fed cows to North Cork Creameries home of Ór Real Irish Butter for more than 50 years.

With an eye to the future and continuing the proud farming tradition Joe has introduced numerous sustainable farming methods such as water harvesting and keeping beehives to ensure a rich biodiversity on his farm.

Like any good dairy farmer will tell you, Joe believes that butter is a welcome addition and enhances every meal. He and his family are proud to supply milk for Ór Real Irish Butter which is reassuringly tasty with nothing added.

Ór Real Irish Butter Farmer and North Cork Creamery Supplier Con O’Sullivan is a second generation farmer and valued supplier of quality milk to North Cork Creameries - home of Ór Real Irish Butter. Con took over his farm back in 2009 from his father and since then has been working with his brother Simon, keeping on the family tradition of farming.

Like many of North Cork Creamery farmers Con and Simon are local Kanturk dairy farmers located a stone’s throw from the home of Ór Real Irish butter. They have a genuine love of dairy farming and the welfare and care of their herd is literally what gets them up and going every morning.

North Cork Creameries produces quality Ór Real Irish butter all year round but Con’s particular favourite time of year for milk production is spring and early summer as the milk is sweet and produces amazingly tasty butter. Con’s own favourite butter taste is a generous dollop of Ór Real Irish Butter on tasty new potatoes. Hard to argue with that!

Mairead is proud to continue the family tradition and has introduced many sustainable farming initiatives such as establishing hedgerows to provide habitat for wildlife, waterways management on the farm, containing all waste produced during the winter and up to date nutrient management for the farm.

While Mairead enjoys farming all year round - her favourite season on the farm is Spring, with new calves being born, evenings getting longer, cows are going back out to pasture - all things natural!

The Lucey family have many favourite butter recipes - apple tart, rocky road, madeira cake and the kid’s absolute favourite - Ór Real Irish Butter on Gran’s homemade scones!
